Tuesday, October 14 || HE MAKES THE DEAF HEAR

“At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly.” - Mark 7: 35

One day, as Jesus traveled through the region of Decapolis, people brought to Him a man who was deaf and could hardly speak. With tender compassion, Jesus took him aside from the crowd, touched his ears and his tongue, and then looked up to heaven. At His simple command, “Be opened!” the man’s ears were opened and his tongue was set free. What a powerful moment this was! The miracle was more than physical healing - it was a vivid picture of what Christ does spiritually. Sin deafens us to God’s voice and ties our tongues from praising Him, but Jesus alone has the power to open what sin has bound.

Dear friends, how often do we find ourselves dull to God’s Word, distracted by the noise of the world, or hesitant to speak His truth with boldness?  Just as this man could not heal himself, neither can we.  But when Christ touches us, our spiritual ears are opened to hear His voice, and our mouths are set free to declare His praise.  We will then have new song in our mouth,  a hymn of praise to our God.  (Psalm 40:3)  Notice also how Jesus took the man aside privately - showing that  His care is deeply personal and not merely for the crowd’s attention.  He deals with us individually, knowing our unique needs and speaking to us in ways that others may not see.  May we daily allow the Lord to quiet our distractions, open our ears to His Word, and loosen our tongues to speak of His goodness.

PRAYER: Dear Lord Jesus, open my ears to hear Your voice clearly and loosen my tongue to proclaim Your praise. Help me to be attentive to Your Word and bold to share it with others. Give a new song in my mouth and let me sing a hymn of praise to You always. Amen.
