Read : I Peter 5: 6-9

“An attacker advances against you. Guard your fortress. ...” - Nahum 2:1

Does not the above verse appear like a SMS or a telegram? Yes, it is a message sent to us by the Lord, which says, “Attacker Satan is advancing against you. Beware! Guard yourself.” This is an emergency message and we are in a position to act very quickly. Suppose a king of a nation receives a message from his spies that his adversary is advancing rapidly against him with a vast army, would not the king call upon his advisers immediately and plan how to guard his nation and how to attack the enemy? The king very well knows that if he fails to take proper measures, he and his countrymen will be killed or taken as captives by the enemy. We too are in similar position. If we do not act quickly, our enemy Satan will overpower us and will take our souls captive. Why does he aim at us, the children of God? Satan knows that we are precious and that we possess great treasures – like eternal life and salvation, and so he longs to attack us, wound us, cripple us, make us ineffective and unproductive. He does not come with weapons like guns, arrows, bows, etc. But he attacks us by tempting us to fall into sin. Satan does not come in a “devils’ attire.” If he comes so, then we will certainly not allow him to gain entry. But he tempts us through situations that seem very familiar to us and very reasonable to us. And that is why we have to be extremely cautious. We should guard our soul, spirit and our body every day.

Dear friends, let us be cleansed by the blood of Jesus and be filled with the Holy Spirit every day.  Let us put on the armor of God mentioned in Ephesians 6:14-17, which would guard us as well as defend us from the enemy’s attack.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for the urgent message that You have sent me today. Let me not ignore this, but let me guard my body, soul and spirit against the devil’s attack. Let me not become a victim to his deceiving tricks, but be fully armored spiritually. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
