Sunday, October 12 || A BLESSING BEHIND CORRECTION

“Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.” - Job 5: 17

The words of Eliphaz to Job remind us of a truth found throughout Scripture - God’s discipline flows out of His love. Discipline is never easy to endure, but it is a sign that we belong to Him. Hebrews 12:6 says, “The Lord disciplines those He loves, and He punishes everyone He accepts as a son.” God corrects us not to destroy us, but to draw us nearer, shaping us into the likeness of Christ. What may seem painful at the moment is often the very tool God uses to produce growth, maturity, and blessing in our lives.

Dear friends, we are encouraged not to despise the Lord’s discipline, but to accept it with humility and faith.    Behind every trial, God has a purpose, even if hidden from our eyes.  His correction guards us from wandering, restores us when we fall, and teaches us to depend upon His grace.  Job himself is a testimony to this.  Though he went through unimaginable suffering, he learned to say, “When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.” (Job 23:10)  In the end, God restored Job with greater blessing than before, proving that His purposes in discipline are never wasted.  The psalmist declares, “It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn Your decrees.” (Psalm 119:71)  When we yield ourselves to God’s loving hand, discipline becomes a pathway to blessing, not a burden.  Let us remember that God’s correction is proof of His fatherly care, and that He is shaping us for fruitfulness and eternal joy.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You that Your discipline is not meant to harm me but to bless me. Help me not to become weary, but to accept Your correction with a trusting heart, knowing that You are working all things for my good and Your glory. Amen.
