"The law of truth was in his mouth, ... And ... he turned many away from iniquity."  - Malachi 2:6

In today's lesson we read that the Lord chose the priests to involve themselves in the study of the Law so that they will be filled with the knowledge of it and will be able to teach the people in simple terms what it means and what it requires of them. For this reason people were seeking to hear from them and expected to get instructed by them. Verse 7 says, “For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge and from his mouth men would seek instruction.” The priests were considered to be the messengers of God who would convey what God wanted them to say. This was during the Old Testament period. Now, we are New Testament Christians, and according to apostle Peter, WE ARE THE PRIESTS! (I Peter 2:9) In other words, God wants us to be people who will be able to 'teach' those who ask from us.

Dear friends, do you spend enough time reading and meditating on the Word of God everyday? Have you ever read through the entire Bible and grasped its message from start to finish? Will you be able to answer the questions people would put to you on your faith and your religion and the doctrines? Remember, it is our responsibility to defend our faith and also lead others to this living faith. If we make an attempt to learn the Scriptures prayerfully, then the Holy Spirit will certainly open our minds to understand everything. And enable us to be ‘teachers.’

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, how glad I am for You have chosen me, an ordinary person, to be Your own royal priesthood. Help me to meditate on Your Word and understand with the help of Your Spirit. Open my mouth to instruct the people with Your Word.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.
