Read : Acts 26: 9-19

“So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven.”

- Acts 26:19

Saul of Tarsus was travelling along the long road to Damascus. During this journey, Saul’s mind was filled with disturbing questions. He had watched Stephen being stoned to death. He had observed his courage and most of all his radiant face. Stephen’s dying words echoed in Saul’s soul. He was a very troubled man by the time he reached the outskirts of Damascus. Suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He was thrown to the ground. A voice spoke to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” Panic stricken, Saul asked, “Who are you Lord?” The answer came with undeniable clarity, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” Saul trembled! Jesus! The voice of the One whom he had thought was dead had spoken to him! Astonished and filled with awe, Saul asked, “Lord, what do you want me to do?” It was the first lesson for Saul in the discovery of the will of God. He obeyed the voice, met Ananias, was baptized and became the follower of Jesus!

Dear friends, Paul’s one act of obedience to the heavenly vision changed his life from a persecutor to a preacher.  Doing the will of God became the only passion of his life.  How about us?  We may not have a dramatic experience as Saul had.  But when He talks to us through His word, do we obey Him even if it seems to make no sense immediately?  The Lord wants us! If we surrender to His will, he will mold us and use us for greater purpose.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, obedience to one vision - the vision of Jesus transformed the entire life of Saul from a cruel persecutor to a concerned missionary. As the clay surrenders to the Potter, let me surrender myself wholly to You and fulfill Your purpose. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
