DO NOT NEGLECT THE BIBLE

Friday, June 26 Read: Psalm 119:97-104

"I rejoice in following Your statues as one rejoices in great riches." - Psalm 119:14

Dr. Harry A. Ironside once visited the aged Alexander Fraser. Dr. Harry was enthralled as one truth after another was opened up from God's Word by Mr.Fraser. Dr. Harry could not constrain himself any longer and cried out, "Where did you learn these things?" Mr. Fraser replied, "On my knees, on the mud floor of a little cottage in the north of Ireland. There with my Bible open before me, I used to kneel for hours at a time and ask the Spirit of God to reveal Christ to my soul and to open the Word of God to my heart. He taught me more on my knees on that mud floor that I could have learned in all the colleges and seminaries in the world". William Lyon Phelps of Yale University who was called as the most beloved professor in America, on more than one occasion stated, "I thoroughly believe a knowledge of the Bible without a college course is more valuable than a college course without the Bible". When he had become one of the country's greatest merchants, John Wanamaker once said, "In my lifetime, I have bought things which have cost me thousands of dollars. But the greatest purchase I ever made was when I was twelve years old. Then I bought a Bible for two dollars and fifteen cents. That was my greatest purchase, for that Bible made me what I am today!" John Wanamaker became a great man because he, as a poor boy, loved God and His Word.

Dear friends, the Bible contains life in it. Let us read it passionately everyday and know Christ deeply, and experience His power in our lives every moment.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for this great Book, the Bible which You have given in my hands. Let me read it, re-read it, meditate it, claim all Your promises and live victoriously every moment, defeating all the powers of darkness. In Jesus' name. Amen.
