Our Lord Is Compassionate

Read: Isaiah 49: 8-13

Verse: "Then the Lord will be jealous for His land and take pity on His people." (Joel 2:18)

Our Lord is gracious and compassionate. Isaiah 30:18 says, "The Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him." The Lord waits for the sinner until he returns to Him and seek His face. Then He is ready to meet him with mercy. He will never allow them to face destruction. He is also a God of justice. He is both wise and just in all His ways. He is true to His Word and He is faithful in all circumstances. If He corrects His children, it is with judgment and mercy.

Dear friends, many times we run away from God's presence and follow the desires of our heart. But the Lord patiently waits for us to return to Him in repentance. He invites us with outstretched arms. Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed yet His unfailing love for us will not be shaken nor His covenant of peace be removed, for He is the Lord who has compassion on us. (Is. 54:10) So let us not harden our hearts, let us not take His mercy for granted but run to Him with humility and cry unto Him for mercy. Psalm 22:24 says that He does not despise or disdain the suffering of the afflicted one; He does not hide His face from him but listen to his cry for help. Let us confess our sins to Him and be reconciled with Him now.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I have gone far away from You and have become entangled in the sinful pleasures of the world. I realize my pitiful condition. Forgive me Lord, as I come to You and plead for Your mercy, for You are a compassionate God. I seek Your face in repentance. In Jesus' name. Amen.
