Someone said,
“Christians are famous for “singing” lies.
How true it is!
We sing many songs in our church – songs of commitment, songs of confession, and songs of thanksgiving.
But, we fail miserably when it comes to applying them in our practical Christian lives.
We sing, “Sweet hour of prayer” – but we become content with a few minutes of prayer each day.
We sing “Onward Christian soldiers” – but wait to be pushed into Lord’s service.
We sing, “O for a thousand tongues to sing” – without rightly using the tongue we have.
We sing, “Serve the Lord with gladness” – but gripe about all we have to do.
We sing, “I love to tell the story” – but never mention it at all to our friends and associates.
We sing, “Cast thy burden on the Lord” – but worry ourselves into nervous breakdown.
We sing, “The whole wide world for Jesus” – but never invite our next door neighbours to church.”
Dear friends, let us try to live what we sing. When Satan rushes to attack us vehemently, do we stand boldly against him in the name of Jesus? Let us not sing the hymns and choruses just for the music or for the rhythm, but let us allow each word to penetrate into our soul. Let us glorify the Lord in our lives through the songs we sing.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I am ashamed to admit that I sing the hymns and choruses only from my lips but not from my heart. Give me Your grace to live as I sing. Whenever I sing psalms and spiritual songs, let me sing with gratitude in my heart. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.Honey Drops || Daily Devotion
