Read : Psalm 63: 1-7

“Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You!. ...” - Psalm 143: 8

How do we start our day? Do we start it with God? Taking a few minutes with God not only helps wash away the sins that we had committed, but it also gives us a boost of physical, emotional and spiritual energy that helps to stay tuned throughout the day. A little TLC is all we need. Talking (prayer), Listening (taking time to hear God’s reply) and Contemplation (reading a few verses of the Scripture and considering how God would like us to apply them to our life). The psalmist practiced this in his life. He says, in Psalm 5:3, “In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation.” Prayer is not just mumbling a few petitions to God and closing with “Amen,” but we need to wait for the Lord’s answer every time we pray. Prayer should be a dialogue between us and God. It should be a two-way communication.

Similarly, when it comes to reading the Word of God, let us not just pick out “a verse for the day,” read it in a hurry and rush off to our work. Remember, the Bible is not a “fortune teller.’’ It is the Word of God. When we read it, we converse with the living God. Through the verses, the Lord instructs us everyday what to do and what not to do. His Word heals us, strengthens us, equips us to face Satan’s attacks, and cleanses us through and through. So dear friends, it is more appropriate for every child of God to start each day reading God’s Word, talking to God and listening to Him.

PRAYER: Almighty God, help me to care for my soul as much as I care for  my body.  Let me get it cleansed by talking to You, listening for Your guidance and contemplating on Your Word.  Let me be transformed to Your image day by day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
