Wednesday, June 4 || NOTHING HAPPENS BY COINCIDENCE IN A BELIEVER’S LIFE

Read : Ruth 2: 1-4

“And she happened to come to the part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.” - Ruth 2: 3

Ruth 2:3 says that Ruth happened to come to the part of the field belonging to Boaz. We cannot call this as coincidence. There is no such thing as “luck” or “coincidence” in God’s providence. It may look like “coincidence” from a human perspective but from the sovereign vantage point, God is in total control. The dictionary says that coincidence is the occurrence of events that happen at the same time by accident but seem to have some connection. We can be sure there is not a single use of the word “coincidence” in all of Scripture. As George Muller said, “God is behind the scenes and controls the scenes”. And in this first scene in Ruth 2 we see two providences - Ruth happening to be in Boaz’s field, and Boaz finding Ruth in his field.

Dear friends, one of the glorious things, as we go through this world today, is to know that our times are in God’s hands, that He is ordering the events of this universe, and that nothing can come to His child without His permission.  This great truth can be a balm of Gilead for our souls when the winds of adversity begin to blow.  God is altogether sovereign.  He is not a God of chance.  A faithful believer, seeking honestly to know and do the will of God, can be confident that the circumstances around him or her are not dictated by the laws of probability but by the will and purpose of God.  Let us be encouraged.  God can be trusted even when His actions run contrary to His promises.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, the events in Ruth’s life encourages me to walk out in full assurance that You are bigger than any circumstances and because of that I can be confident of my future. I am glad that nothing happens in my life by coincidence but everything is under Your control. Amen.
