One summer night, when Cindy was a small girl of eight years, her family took a vacation on a beautiful Canadian lake. One day, Cindy’s father announced that he would take Cindy to the lake before breakfast and try to catch a few fish. The thought of catching fish and having her mother cook them for breakfast excited her. But unfortunately, even after a couple of hours of fishing, they could not catch even a single fish. Finally, Cindy’s father said it was time to go home. Cindy was bitterly disappointed that she would not have any fish for breakfast. “Stop crying Cindy,” her father said, “Not catching any fish today is a good lesson in learning how to take disappointments cheerfully. Life has a way of rewarding those who take things in the right sense. Instead of crying, ask the Lord. Who knows? He may send a fish for you!” Cindy wiped her eyes and prayed earnestly in a whisper. “Lord, don’t disappoint me.” Just then, a fish jumped out of the lake and landed in the bottom of the boat right near Cindy’s feet! Cindy wrote later, “This probably may sound like an incredible fish story, but it did happen. I think that it was the good Lord who arranged this minor miracle, so that all through my life I would trust Him even for small things.”

Dear friends, someone said, “Disappointments are God’s appointments.”  Through failures, God teaches us valuable lessons in order to make us spiritually mature.  Let us trust the Lord that He would do everything for our benefit; indeed He is our God who wants to bless us and not hurt us.  So instead of giving way to frustration, let us look ahead for better things to happen.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, let me remember that there is no disappointment in the life of a God’s child because everything that happens is under Your control and You will never intend to harm. Let me learn to trust You and expect better things from You that You have stored for my future. Amen.
