Bro. R. Stanley writes, "There are three evils greater than evil itself. One is unbelief in the existence of Satan. Second, unmindfulness of his activities, and third, underestimation of his power!" Satan is real. The most common way in which he attacks people is by deception. In fact, he is called as the deceiver. In his book, "Satan is no myth," Oswald J Sanders explains of the counterfeit nature of Satan.

Satan has his own trinity -

the devil,

the beast and

the false prophet. (Revelation 16:13)

He has his own synagogue. (Revelation 2:9)

He has his own theology. (I Timothy 4:1)

He has his own throne and authority. (Revelation 13:2) And

his own worshippers. (Revelation13:4)

In these end times we find that the number of people being cunningly deceived by Satan is increasing at an alarming rate. The pity is such deceived persons do not know that they are being deceived. When the disciples asked Jesus, "What will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?" (Matthew 24:3,4) the very first thing He told them was, "Watch out that no one deceives you."

R. Stanley suggests some safeguards against deception.

Firstly, give top priority to Bible meditation. The Word of God will certainly guide you and guard you from false doctrines.

Secondly, do not over emphasize any one truth at the cost of others.

Thirdly, avoid interest in extra biblical revelations and experiences.

What is plainly revealed in the Bible is more than enough for us to live a life pleasing to God.

Dear friends, let us be alert, for our enemy the devil prowls like a roaring lion,  looking for someone to devour. Let us overcome him by the power of the Lord and His Word.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, how cunningly Satan deceived Adam and eve! Let me not fall prey to his temptation and cunning schemes, but be alert. Help me to spend more time in reading Your Word so that I would guard my soul from his deceitful attacks. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
