The Spirit brought Ezekiel to a valley where numerous dry bones were scattered all around. The Lord led Ezekiel back and forth among the bones and then asked him, ‘’Son of man, can these bones live?’’ “From human point of view, certainly no, but is there anything too hard for the Lord,” Ezekiel must have thought to himself and said, “O Sovereign Lord, You alone know.” Then the Lord said to him, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, “Dry bones, hear the word of God! ...” Ezekiel did not argue. He prophesied as he was commanded. (Ezekiel 37:7) And there was a big noise and all the bones belonging to each skeleton came together - the skull, the rib cage, the pectoral and pelvic girdles, the bones of the hands, legs, fingers, toes… each piece joined exactly with the other. Then the skeletons were covered with flesh and skin. It appeared as if a huge army of men was lying in the valley. But one thing was lacking – life! Now God commanded Ezekiel to prophesy to the wind, and when Ezekiel spoke the living Word of God, the breath from God entered the dead bodies and they all stood to their feet!

Dear friends, in this age of acute political and spiritual helplessness, too often we, as God’s people, are like that standing army.  We are lifeless.  We have eyes but cannot see, hands but cannot fight, feet but cannot walk.  Are we of any good to God?  No, certainly not.  Only when we are revived, we can march onwards and fight for God.  How can we be revived?  Through the Holy Spirit using the proclamation of the Word of God.  Shall we pray for such revival today?

PRAYER: Almighty God, breathe on us the breath of life. Revive us! We are spiritually dead though physically alive. Let us burst forth to life, let us be on fire for God and let us fight against the evil forces, redeem the souls that are in bondage and lead them to Your love. Amen.
