" ... God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in His holiness." - Hebrews 12: 10

Many times we wonder why God disciplines us? Why doesn't He explain it to us, instead of just keeping us in dark? First of all, we probably would not understand if He did explain. Also we would most likely reject His ways. However, we can attribute three reasons for God抯 discipline on His people - first preparation. By preparation God is working in our lives to prepare us for some special event or blessing. No matter what this event or blessing may be, we must be ready to receive it and to glorify God in it. The second kind of discipline from God is perfection. Perfection means God is seeking to make us what He wants us to be. This is the process of His eternal plan in us. Since we do not know exactly what it is that God is doing in our lives, we should simply trust Him and accept it. The third kind of discipline is correction. Correction suggests that we have gone in a wrong track and that God is working to bring us back in line. In such experiences, we are normally aware that we have sinned and we are able to discern the purpose of the discipline God has given us.

Dear friends, whatever kind of discipline we may undergo, we must understand that God is doing what is best for us, His children. He loves us. In fact, His discipline is actual proof of His love. So let us not fight back and resist Him, but let us surrender to Him and allow Him to mold us in His ways which leads to perfection.
