Read : Psalm 119: 89-96

"Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." - John 1:12

We hear God when He speaks to us through the Bible, His Word. In it, He says certain important things about our identities. For example, God says that we are created in His image. (Genesis 1:27) With loving care, God formed each one of us as a unique person, each with exquisite details that give us an identity unlike any other person or creature. This means that we are related to God, we belong to Him, or to be more specific, we are God’s children. And this privilege of calling God our Father is given to us when we accept the gift that He has given to us - the gift of new life in Jesus Christ. But many a time, we are unable to acknowledge this truth. “A major reason for this difficulty is the fact that we are caught between conflicting ideas. We want to believe that we are precious to God, and that God loves us, yet we continue to base our worth on what we do and what we don’t do. Like Adam and Eve, we are unable to believe that God can accept us as we are, naked and sinful, and therefore we spend energy sewing fig leaves together,” writes Rich Hurst.

Dear friends, let us take God’s Word by faith. The situations may be different, but let us not look at them and get distorted. We have a great God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not, as though they were. (Romans 4:17) When God told Abraham that He would bless his offspring as the stars of the sky, he was childless. Yet, Abraham believed the Lord and received His blessing in a supernatural way. (Genesis 15:6) Let us also believe that we belong to God and we are valuable to Him - because God has said so. If we trust God’s Word and act accordingly, our lives would certainly make a difference.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me to believe Your word one hundred percent. When it says that I belong to You, help me to realize that You accept me just as I am. Let me not trust my feelings or circumstances, but trust in Your Word because it is You who have pronounced it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
