“... Love your neighbour as yourself. ...” - Leviticus 19:18

There lived an old lady who was dejected because she could never win a soul for Jesus. She had been to Church for many years. But one day the Lord showed her what real love was. She understood that God did not send a tract from heaven. He sent His Son, who came and lived with the people, helped them, healed them and was concerned for them. Shortly after, new tenants occupied the house in front of which she lived. On the day of their arrival, the old lady went over with coffee and biscuits saying, “I’ve brought you something to eat, because I know you’ve just moved and you don’t have things ready for cooking yet. And by the way, if you want to know about the grocery store, it’s at such and such a place. ...” She gave them the list of good stores in the neighborhood along with some Gospel tracts and left. After a while, she came back with lunch and said, “If you need something else, I’m here. I’ll be glad to help you.” She never preached, but now and then testified the goodness of the Lord that she had tasted in her life. Shortly, the whole family was led to salvation because of her love and concern.

Dear friends, Jesus did not say, “Let your mouth speak before men in such a way that they may hear your nice words and glorify your Father ...” He said, “Let your light shine” – your love.  So let us show our love in our good deeds.  Let us pray for our neighbour’s family and give our services to them as and when they need.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I am ashamed to confess that many a time I have been indifferent to my neighbours. I have been selfish in looking after the needs of my own family members. Let me open my heart and hand, and show them Your love through my good deeds. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
