“Lord, ... “if you had been here, ...” - John 11:21

We may wonder, “If Jesus loved Martha and Mary, why then did He delay His going to their house and healing Lazarus?” If we love anyone, we would rush to their rescue at once if they are in distress. Isn’t it? But, in John 11:4, Jesus explained to His disciples the reason for His delay. “This had come to the glory of God and for the glory of Son of God.” Sometimes delays may be God’s messengers to reveal that He loves us more and that He wants His name to be glorified through the situation.

When we read John 11: 40, we understand this very clearly. Jesus said to Martha, “Have not I told you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” The end of the story reveals that what Jesus told was eventually fulfilled. He delayed going to Lazarus’ house so that the faith of Mary and Martha got strengthened. He delayed so that all other people almost counted the chances of a miracle as nil. But, when an extraordinary miracle was performed the outcome was astonishing. Not only Lazarus was raised back to life, even after his body started to decompose, but still another miracle occured, ‘many of the Jews’ ‘saw’ what happened and ‘believed’ Jesus.

So dear friends, if you are waiting for God’s profound miracle, and if it seems to you that He is inordinately delaying, better be encouraged today. Fortify your faith! Surely He will do the miracle and you will bring glory to Him through your testimony.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, sometimes when You are delaying to answer my prayers let me not become weary, let me not quit praying; but let me believe that You are going to perform a supernatural miracle and make me a living testimony to many/ bringing glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
