Thursday, March 05 || REKINDLE YOUR FLICKERING FLAME! MARCH ON!

“... No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the service in the kingdom of God.” - Luke 9:62

One day, while on a brisk hike, a hiker stopped to look out from the mountains across the neighboring desert. He felt strangely attracted towards the sweeping barrenness that lay before him. He could not resist the temptation of hiking in the desert. Slowly the flicker in his heart became a flame. He shared his idea; many agreed that someone should go, but no one volunteered. The hiker determined to go. After careful preparation, set out to go alone. The first few days, his steps were springy and his eyes were keen. He yearned to do his part to bring life to the desert. Then came the heat, the scorpions, the snakes, the monotony! Slowly the fire in his heart began to diminish. And now he was facing the storm; the endless war of the wind and the relentless cold. “I don’t know how much more I can take.” He struggled inside. The winds of discouragement and fear seemed to attack him violently. “May be someone else should do this. I’m too young, too inexperienced.” He was ready to quit. The flame in his heart died down. But, the coals remained hidden, red hot! Suddenly his spirit stirred up within him. The temptation to quit was gradually overcome by his urge to go on! Blowing the red hot coals, the hiker once again heard the call to the desert. Though faint, the call was clear. With all the strength he could summon, the hiker rose to his feet and took his first step into the wind!

Dear friends, do you find that your journey is hard and lonely? Are you tempted to quit? Do you question God’s call? Do not give up. He who has called you is faithful. He is with you. He will never allow you to face disgrace. March onwards with confidence. Your victory is at hand. Halleluiah!

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I am weary, tired and am unable to continue my journey in this lonely desert. Thank You for rekindling the fire in my heart. I know that You are with me in this strenuous journey and that You will enable me to conquer all the hurdles and lead me to victory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
