"Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power" - Ephesians 6:10

In order to live a victorious Christian life, we should have perseverance and self-control. As long as we live in this world, we will surely face temptations every day and every minute. As children of the living God, we should always strive to marshal our strength! (Nahum 2:1) How can we do that?

Firstly, we should be renewed in our inner man day by day. (II Corinthians 4:16) Outwardly we may seem to waste away. Our physical strength might deteriorate. Even the youth may grow weary and tired, but those who wait upon the Lord will become strong. Our spiritual strength will be renewed and we would rise up like eagles to the higher realms. Waiting on the Lord means, feeding on the Word of God and communicating with Him in prayer.

Secondly, we should always be filled by the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8 says, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” When we are anointed by the Holy Spirit, we would have the power to resist temptations. When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will put him to flight. (Isaiah 59:19) Jesus was able to overcome the devil after forty days of fasting in the wilderness, only because He was full of the Holy Spirit. (Luke 4:1)

Thirdly, we should hold on to our faith. Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Whenever we are tempted, let us confess words of faith - the Word of God boldly again and again. Faith acts as shield and protects us from the fiery arrows aimed at us by Satan. (Ephesians 6)

Fourthly, let us always be in the presence of the Lord. David says in Psalm 16:8, “I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

So dear friends, let us never give a foothold to Satan.  Let us not allow any weak points in our lives which would pave the entry for Satan, but let us become stronger in the Lord and in the power of His might.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to read Your Word and spend time with You in prayer. Let me always be filled with Your Holy Spirit and be in Your presence. Let me put on the shield of faith and help me to stand against the devil when he attempts to tempt me. Let me be a conqueror. Amen.
