The Lord ... will not forsake His faithful ones. They will be protected forever.” - Psalm 37:28

An elder of a small church in China was taken to court because of his faith in Christ. After bone-breaking beatings, he was thrown into the prison, only to be released a few days later without any explanation. At the next worship service, the elder gave his testimony to the assembled church which had been praying for him without ceasing during his imprisonment. “When I received the 240 lashes, I thought of Stephen and how he was stoned. At that moment, I had a glorious experience similar to the one he had. I saw Jesus, for whom I was suffering and I was comforted beyond words. It was as though a hand was laid upon my mangled back so that I no longer felt the pain! Also the Lord told me that I would be set free in a few days, and that really did happen as you all can see.” His eyes still shone with the Lord’s comfort.

Dear friends, our God is a living God, who intervenes and grants us help when we appeal to Him in times of need. Would God, the Father who does not forget the young ravens that cry to Him, neglect the cry of His dear children when they call upon Him in times of distress? Surely, He will come to their aid. His attention is especially drawn to those who are suffering for Him. He will certainly not leave them without comfort. All we have to do is just trust Him and run to Him in order to take refuge in His strong arms. When we are exhausted too much or pain stricken to offer long prayers, we only have to say, “My Father, I trust you.” Either God will save us from our plight or we will experience His loving presence so wonderfully that all our pain and sorrow would flee away from us.

PRAYER: O Father, dearest Father, within Your heart I rest. You know all my suffering, and how much can I bear? My heart in fear and sorrow may rest in quietness. I trust in Your will whole-heartedly and this is blessedness. Amen.
