“What do you want me to do for you? ...” (Mark 10:51)

Bartimaeus, the blind beggar at Jericho, cried out to Jesus, “Son of David! Have mercy on me!” Those around him tried to silence him. But Bartimaeus did not keep quiet. He shouted all the more, “Son of David! Have mercy on me!” Jesus could not ignore that soul piercing cry of Bartimaeus. He stopped and asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said, “I want to see.” What a direct and accurate answer. That simple answer revealed his heart’s desire and his confidence in Jesus’ power. “According to your faith, it will be done to you,” Jesus said. Immediately Bartimaeus received his sight

Dear friends, this is still God’s word to all people of every generation.  “According to your faith, it will be done to you.”  His mercy, grace, love and power are the same today as they were then.  His love for us is as great as His love for Bartimaeus.  So let us not be afraid to cry out to Him as Bartimaeus did.  1 John 5: 14 and 15 says, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God – that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of Him.”  In Ephesians 3: 12, Paul says, “In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.”  So let us cast away all fear and anxiety and approach Him boldly.  He is our Healer, He is our Provider, He is our Protector and He is our Deliverer. Let us call out to Him in faith.  He will never forsake us.  He will grant us according to our faith – be it healing or financial breakthrough or salvation of our loved ones.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, how compassionate and merciful Jesus was when He stood near the blind beggar and asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” Even today I cry unto You in the midst of problems with the confidence that You will hear me and deliver me completely. Amen.
