“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. ...”

- Ezekiel 36: 25

God alone can give the hard-hearted sinner a new heart that desires to obey God. He is the only One who can wash away totally our sin. In Ezekiel 36:25, the Lord said, “I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you will be clean.” When God Himself says, “Ye shall be clean,” we are clean. His pure and holy eyes detect every part of sin and every trace of uncleanness. Though it may be deep within the heart, He can spy it out, but He can make it clean. Ezekiel 36:25 says that He will cleanse us - “from all our impurities and from all idols.” Some of you may think, “I am a filthy creature. I am a great sinner. Can God cleanse me? Can He bless me?” Yes, indeed. Isaiah 1:18 says, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” Such was the case of Colonel Gardiner. On the very night he had made an appointment to commit a filthy sin, Christ appeared to him, and he heard Him say, “I have done all this for you. Will you not turn to me?” At that moment, he was convicted and with tears ran to Jesus. He became as an eminent Christian man, more noted than he had formerly been as an immoral officer in the army.

Dear friends, the Lord Jesus Christ still works these wonders of grace. He meets people when they are desperately set on sinning, just as a horse that is rushing headlong into battle. Christ comes and lays hands on the reins, turns the steed and leads it back wherever He desires. He will do the same for you according to this wondrous promise, “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean.” Amen.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, all evil, no matter how secret I might think it before others, is open in Your eyes. I come before You with a broken heart. Have mercy on me. Cleanse me of all my sins by the blood of Jesus. Remove all my guilty stains and make me white as snow. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
