"When I am afraid, I will trust in you." - Psalm 56:3
Fear is an unwanted guest. There is the fear of the unknown, fear of the future, fear of ill health, fear of being rejected, fear of growing old and fear of death - just to mention a few. One way of dealing with fear and the most common one which thousands follow is "Laugh and be happy.” But the fact is, though we pretend as if everything is fine, sooner or later we have to face the reality, and there comes fear ready to attack us in a more and violent way. There is yet another way of dealing with fear. It is through faith in the Lord. A worldly person would ridicule this idea. But a person who has experienced this would never say so. While Jesus lived on this earth, He was misunderstood. He experienced loneliness. He was deserted by His disciples, ridiculed and humiliated. But never did He fear because He was confident that only His Father's will would be accomplished in His life, no matter however adverse the situations were. Once, some Pharisees asked Jesus to leave that place and hide somewhere because Herod was trying to kill Him. But Jesus was not at all afraid because He knew that nothing would happen to Him without His Father's permission. (Luke 13:31-33)
Dear friends, when we face overwhelming situations, let us not pretend as though we are not afraid, but let us hold on to the Lord of faith and cross the storm of life triumphantly. Let us trust that without our Father's will nothing can harm us.PRAYER: Dear Lord, let me not deal with fear superficially, and try to get rid of it by my own efforts. Instead, help me to be confident that You are in control of everything and would never let anything harm me. Help me to continually hold on to Your promises and get over the stormy situations with ease. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
