“Go, consecrate the people. ...” - Joshua 7:13

God is ready to send revival but our unpreparedness is what hinders His work.  Unless we confess our sins, get them away and reconcile with God, no amount of preaching or even praying will do any good.  In Joshua 7:7, Joshua asked God, “Ah, Sovereign Lord, why did You ever bring these people across Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us?”  And we read in verse 10, the sharp rebuke of the Lord to Joshua – “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?  Israel has sinned.”

Dear friends, we too may be praying for revival for quite long with no effect and we too may be questioning the Lord.  “Why, Lord, are you tarrying?”  The Lord would rebuke us saying, “There is sin in you.”  The Israelites were defeated by the Amorites in Ai because of Achan’s sin.  Only after Achan’s sin was judged and the sin eliminated from the camp, the Israelites were able to rout their enemy completely.  What is the sin seen in us which hinders revival, which delays His mighty outpouring?  Is it an Achan of pride, an Achan of covetousness or an Achan of impurity…?  “There are times in the experience of the church of God when one has to cease preaching or even praying or exhibiting the Tablet of Commandments, when one has indeed to grab the golden calf, smash it and scatter it to the four winds,” writes James A. Stewart.   So what should we do now to receive God’s blessings? In Joshua 7:13, the Lord says, “Sanctify yourselves. ...You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove it.”  When we prepare ourselves, by sanctifying ourselves and eliminating that which is detestable, then undoubtedly the power of the Lord will flow gushing towards us, performing supernatural things.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I have been praying for the revival of my Church and my neighborhood for quite long, but in vain.  Lord, I realize and admit that there is sin in me which blocks You to act.  Forgive me.  Help me to get rid of it once for all.  Cleanse me and use me for Your glory.  Amen.
