THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR FAITH

"Without faith it is impossible to please God, ..." - Hebrews 11:6

"Prayer is not limited to the humanly possible. Prayer is the work of faith", writes Wesley L.Duewel. How often we are double minded in our praying! Many times we do not really expect God to answer our prayers! If we read the Gospels, we would find that Jesus was frequently disappointed to see the lack of faith in His disciples. To mention a few incidents- Once Jesus and His disciples were sailing in the lake when their boat was caught up in a furious squall and the disciples were terribly frightened. It was then when Jesus rebuked them, "Where is your faith? Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" (Luke 8:25, Mark 4:40) The disciples did not have faith in Jesus. They did not realize that with Jesus they could come out of any storm however violent it was! In another incident, the disciples were not able to cast off the demon from a boy, and Jesus made it clear to them that it was due to their lack of faith. Matthew 13:58 says that Jesus did not do many miracles in His hometown because of their lack of faith! It is absolutely clear that our lack of faith limits God's freedom of working mightily in our lives.

Dear friends, there is no substitute for faith. We may pray for hours and hours but that does not bring God's answer. Without the dynamic of faith, prayer does not prevail. Wesley L.Duewel beautifully writes, "Faith submits your need to the will of God and lays hold of the power of God". So let us ask God, "Lord, I believe, help me overcome my unbelief.”

PRAYER: Dear Lord, let me cast away every doubt as I kneel down before You in prayer, for doubt blinds my soul, it weakens my confidence in Your faithfulness and Your power. It distorts my spiritual vision. Let me pray with faith and receive Your blessings. Amen.
