Read : II Chronicles 30:6-9

“... People of Israel, return to the Lord, … that He may return to you who are left, ...”

In the Old Testament period, Israel repeatedly forgot God, turned away from Him and backslid into idolatry. But God did not give up on Israel. He said through Isaiah, “All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people.” (Isaiah 65:2) But Israel disregarded God’s outstretched arms of love. Even then God did not abandon them. Again and again, God held out His arms to Israel, through prophets, righteous kings or leaders whom He raised up to turn the people to repentance. But they became more and more stiff-necked and rebellious. So, God the Father sent His only Son Jesus to bring the greatest revival on earth. In Acts 2nd chapter we read about the mighty revival of Pentecost. The Church was born in revival fire. Revival is the manifestation of God to His people, convicting by His awesome presence and His infinite holiness. Revival is God holding out His arms of love to us and refusing to give up on us.

Dear friends, our God is a God of love. He longs to bless, He longs to forgive and He is slow to punish. (Exodus 34:6) When His people drift away from Him and refuse to repent, He may awaken His people and bring them back to repentance that He may be merciful to them.  So let us pay heed to the gentle voice of the Holy Spirit.  Let us humble ourselves, repent from our sins and seek His face.  Let us first fall on our knees before the throne of grace and be renewed and revived in our spirit to be used by God.

PRAYER: Dear God, give me Your grace to deepen my prayer life and draw closer to You. Cleanse me from all iniquities. Revive my spirit. Let me experience Your awesome presence and power. Rekindle the revival fire in me. Let it spread to others and draw them to Your fold. Amen.
