Saturday, June 21 || OH, BE CAREFUL LITTLE EYES OF WHAT YOU SEE !

“Turn my eyes away from worthless things; and preserve my life according to Your Word.” - Psalm 119:37

Most of the temptations come to a man only through the eyes. Eyes are the doorway to the heart. They are more powerful than all other sense organs, in the sense that the images that we see through the eyes are imprinted in the brain and stored in our memory. That is why videos have greater impact on a person than audios for a longer duration. Jesus told in His Sermon on the Mount, “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.” (Matthew 6:22,23) Take for example Eve. First, she saw the fruit in the garden and then she fixed her gaze on it. This triggered a chain reaction. She thought, “How good and beautiful it is to look at! Certainly it will be tasty too! Why not just try it?” Soon she went near the tree, plucked the fruit and ate it. Ultimately she fell in sin!

Dear friends, let us guard our eyes.  Have you ever been affected by conjunctivitis? – a painful eye sore that causes redness of the eyes or have you seen people suffering from it? The treatment for it is to put eye drops at regular intervals. Let us also cleanse our eyes by the holy blood of Jesus every day. If our eyes become holy, then our whole body will be holy. Amen.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I dedicate my eyes to You. I give them as a living sacrifice. Make them holy. Let them not be corrupted by the fleshly sinful things of the world, but let them be used to see Your glory. Cleanse my eyes by the blood of Jesus today and every day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
