“So then, dear friends, … make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with Him.” II Peter 3:14

The coming of our Lord Jesus is going to occur very soon. There are about 200 prophesies in the Bible which say that the coming of the Lord is certain. If we are corrupted by this world and if we lead sinful lives, how will we be able to see Him face to face when he comes, and how can we enter into His Kingdom, where there is righteousness, peace and joy? Let us remember that the gate that leads to destruction is wide and its road is broad, and many enter through it. But the gate that leads to the kingdom of God is small and the road is narrow, and only a few find it. (Matthew 7:13,14) So we have to make all efforts to walk in the right way. How can we do this?

We have to guard the Word of God in our hearts. Just as a man who is surrounded by darkness tries to guard the light coming from a small lamp from getting extinguished, we, who live in the world darkened by sin and unbelief, should guard ourselves by holding on to the Word of God. The Word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. It guides us to walk in the right path. II Peter 1:4 says, “He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”

Dear friends, God does not want us to be condemned. He sent His only Son to this earth only to save us from hell and give us life.  So let us choose the path of life. Let us cast off everything that hinders our progress. Let us guard our hearts and be all the more eager to live blameless lives.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, the coming of Jesus is certain and it is going to be very soon. Let me not be complacent and careless but make every effort to guard the eternal Word in my heart and inherit eternal life. And be qualified to meet the Lord with confidence. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
