Saturday, January 24 || HE REMAINS FAITHFUL EVEN IF WE ARE FAITHLESS!

“... He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled.” - Joshua 24:17

The Israelites were a rebellious, disobedient and stiffnecked people who always complained against Moses and against God. God could have very well destroyed them and wiped them out from the face of the earth, because of their wickedness. But He did not do so. He remained true to His promise made to Abraham. They tested the Lord many times. They failed to trust Him and cried in unbelief when they were confronted by the Red Sea. (Exodus 14:10-12) Then at Marah, they grumbled once again because the water was bitter. (Exodus 15:23,24) Again they murmured when the manna was given, thinking of the pots of meat they ate when they were in Egypt. (Exodus 16) But the Lord was patient.

He provided them with manna every single day for forty years till they reached Canaan. He guided them by pillar of cloud and pillar of fire during their entire journey. He fought for them against their enemies. He carried them as a father carried his son, all through their ways. The climax of their rebellion was seen when they believed the false report given by the ten spies who went to explore Canaan, instead of trusting God. Because of this, the Lord became exceedingly angry. He punished them by allowing them to wander in the desert for forty years. Yet, He did not abandon them, but was compassionate enough to lead their children into the Promised Land.

Dear friends, how faithful our Lord is! Let us not take His unlimited patience and His grace for granted. But, let us be thankful to Him for His protection and preservation, every single day of our lives.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, though the Israelites tested You many times during their wilderness journey, You did not destroy them but faithfully preserved their lives till they reached Canaan and even thereafter. Let me be grateful to You for protecting me every single moment in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
