Monday, October 27 || PURSUE THE ENEMY TILL HE IS DEFEATED!

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” - Ephesians 6:11

Once, five kings of Amorites joined forces and went against the Gibeonites. The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua to help them fight the battle. So, Joshua ordered an all-night march to attack the enemies by surprise. The Lord fought for the Israelites by raining hailstones on the enemies, and a large number of the enemies died. Joshua did not stop at this point. He wanted to secure a complete victory over the enemy. But he saw that his men were weary and the task was great, and if night came on, the enemy could escape. So Joshua prayed to God for help and the Lord answered in a remarkable way - He caused the sun to stand still over Gibeon and the moon over Aijalon, (Joshua 10:13) and thus the day was extended for a few more hours! Joshua commanded his men, “Do not stop! Pursue your enemies. Attack them from the rear and don’t let them reach their cities.” (Joshua 10:19) So everyone was killed and on that day the Israelites had a complete victory over their enemies. Still Joshua was not satisfied. When he heard that the five enemy kings had fled and hidden in a cave, he ordered his men to bring them out. He then struck them, killed them and hung their bodies on the trees. Thus there were no survivors! (Joshua 10:28)

Dear friends, even in our spiritual lives, when our adversary Satan comes against us to attack us, let us boldly march against him because the Lord is with us.  He fights for us in supernatural ways and so the victory is surely ours. But let us remember to fight with perseverance till the enemy is completely defeated.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, Satan is at work to attack me. Let me not retreat in fear, but let me take hold of Your promises, put on the spiritual armor, march onwards and defeat him in Jesus’ name. Let me not faint till I destroy him completely. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
