“Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down. ...” - Isaiah 64:1

Isaiah lived during the time when Israel disobeyed God’s commandments and followed the evil practices of the heathen people. They abandoned the temple of the Lord and worshipped Baal, and this aroused the Lord’s anger. He warned them time and again that He would hand them over to their enemies. But they took His warning lightly. In the midst of this situation, Isaiah perceived that only if God would come down, only if He would manifest His presence and bring a revival, it would solve the problem. The time that we live is in all ways similar to Isaiah’s time. False doctrines and cults have side-tracked many thousands of people away from the living God. There are divisions among God’s people everywhere. Many have lost their zeal, love and commitment to the Lord. All our spiritual programs, our preaching through television, radio and other mass media have failed to solve the problem. If only we can get God come down, there would be a real transformation and result in a great revival. What prevents God to come down from heaven in all His might? In Chapter 64:7, Isaiah said, “No one calls on Your name or strives to lay hold of You.” So, lack of prevailing prayer is the main reason which prevents revival. The old time praying urge is hardly seen among today’s Christians.

Dear friends, let us yearn to be prayer warriors more than anything else.  We can accomplish anything for God through our prayers.  Let us act against the temptations and desires of our flesh. Let us not become slothful, indulgent and indifferent to the great need of the hour, but through our prayer let us rend the heaven and bring down the presence of God.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me to set my face towards You. Let me not quit - fearing opposition by Satan. With a purpose in my heart and determination in my mind, help me to stir up myself and prevail in prayer. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
