LORD JESUS, COME INTO MY HEART

"... Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners - of whom I am the worst." - I Timothy 1:15

Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector. One day when he heard that Jesus was passing through Jericho, he wanted to see Him. But since he was short he climbed up a sycamore-fig tree to have a better view of Jesus. When Jesus reached the spot, He looked up and said, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay in your house today". Zacchaeus was overjoyed and took Jesus to his house. There he got convicted of his sinful living. He repented immediately and made a declaration that he would restore all he had taken by deception and fraud! Salvation came to his house that day because Jesus went to his house! When Jesus lived on this earth He was prepared to mix with sinners, and reach out to them with love and forgiveness. Why? Because they needed to hear the good news of God's kingdom, to be given the opportunity to repent and put their faith in Him. Colin Urquhart writes, "Jesus was prepared to go in holiness wherever there was impurity. He took His light into the darkness, His peace into turmoil, His compassion where there was mourning and grief. He carried healing where there was sickness, deliverance where there was bondage. He did not avoid sinners. He embraced them in love". But the Pharisees criticized Him. They were unwilling to receive the true righteousness which comes through repentance and faith in Jesus. And the result? They lost the privilege of knowing and accepting Jesus as their Savior.

Dear friends, let us seek the Lord earnestly, like Zacchaeus. God sees our heart. When we humble ourselves before Him, He reveals Himself to us and offers us the greatest gift, salvation. Let us be careful not to hold on to our self-righteousness and traditions like the Pharisees and reject our Savior eternally.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, You sent Your Son Jesus to the earth to save me, a sinner. Let me not hold on to my prestige, righteousness or status and lose the salvation You offer freely to me. I humble myself in order to see You Lord. Forgive me and accept me as Your child. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
