God Cares! He Is In Control!

Verse: "... He who watches over you will not slumber; ... [He] will neither slumber nor sleep." (Psalm 121:3,4)

Frederick Nolan was fleeing from his enemies during the time of persecution in North Africa. Pursued by them over hill and valley with no place to hide, he fell exhausted into a wayside cave, expecting his enemies to find him soon. Awaiting his death he saw a spider weaving a web. Within minutes the little spider had woven a beautiful web across the mouth of the cave. Soon the pursuers arrived and wondered if Nolan was hiding there, but on seeing the unbroken piece of art, they thought it would have been impossible for him to have entered the cave without dismantling the web. And so they went on. Having escaped, Nolan burst out and exclaimed, "Where God is, a spider web is like a wall. Where God is not, a wall is like a spider web."

Dear friends, when situations are beyond our control let us not wonder how God will take care of us, but let us just be assured that He will certainly take care of us. Let us see Job's example! All his possessions were lost; all his children died. He himself was afflicted with a painful disease. His own wife discouraged him to deny God. But Job had the assurance that the Lord would restore him. And he was not disappointed. He was blessed by God in a double measure. With such a confidence let us leave all our problems to God. Let us trust wholly that God is in control and He is with us always till the very end of the earth. Amen.

Prayer: Dear Lord, when my situations lead me to a state of hopelessness, let me not give in to despair, but let me be assured that You are in control and that You will never abandon me. You will certainly take care of me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
