Friday, October 24 || EXPECT THE CRASHING OF THE WALL ANYTIME!

"... “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city!” - Joshua 6:16

Archaeologists say that Jericho’s wall was actually a double wall. The two walls were about 15 feet apart and linked together by houses built across the top. The outer wall was 6 feet thick and the inner wall 12 feet thick. Both were formidable, insurmountable and unconquerable. But God had a special strategy for the Israelites to conquer Jericho. Joshua was commanded by the Lord to go on a procession around Jericho. They had to march around the huge wall once. The priests should blow their trumpets as they marched, but none of them should shout or give a war cry. This was to continue for six days. On the seventh day, however, they had to march not once, but seven times around the city. To begin with, the excitement and faith of the people would have been at their peak, but each additional day and each additional lap would have caused weariness and discouragement. Leave alone the physical weariness, seeing the stubborn wall not showing any trace of falling down, they would have had many negative thoughts. But, on the seventh day, the seventh time, as the Israelites marched around Jericho, the stubborn walls came tumbling down with a loud crash when the trumpets sounded and Israelites shouted.

Dear friends, are you afraid of the strongholds in your life? Does a break-through seem beyond your reach? Be encouraged. Your walls may loom great and high, discouraging and despairing, but God looms greater! He is faithful to every word of His promise.   So keep marching. Keep praying claiming the promises. The walls will certainly fall down - in God’s time - in God’s way. Amen.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, my Jericho wall is obstinate and never seems to move even a little. All my prayers during the past years seem to be futile. But today instead of becoming depressed, I praise You - for You are still in control and will bring down the wall any time - even now. Amen.
