Friday, October 03 || OUR GREATEST ASSIGNMENT IS SPREADING THE GOSPEL

“... Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

- Mark 16: 15

The last words that Jesus uttered before He ascended to heaven was a command to spread the gospel to the entire world. This is called the Great Commission. Every Christian needs to heed that call and endeavor to share the good news of salvation with everyone they meet. A mission in their regular interview of candidates for the mission field asked the applying individuals how many people they have won to Christ. When asked why they have this practice, the head of the organisation gave an answer that was very profound. He said, “If they are not willing to share their faith on their home soil, then they may not be able to share it overseas.”

Dear friends, often we leave the job of sharing the gospel to those who have been ordained or appointed to do the task full time, such as evangelists, pastors or missionaries.  Let us realize that God  wants every believer to have an evangelistic spirit.  We need to have a burden for our neighbors across the street or the missionary work across the world.  Every Christian is a missionary, for all the world is a mission field.  We should not think of missionaries as only people who have returned from some unreached tribal areas with great testimonies.  If we cannot travel to far off countries, we can project ourselves by prayer and provisions - It is our responsibility to pray to God in our prayer closets to send laborers into the harvest and to provide them while they are in the harvest.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me a burden for lost souls. Help me to tell the world how Jesus saved me and how He gave me a life brand new. Let me proclaim this good news to people whom You have put in my life. Let me not treat Your Great Commission with contempt. Amen.
