Friday, March 06 || GREATEST HONOR IN THIS WORLD!

“... My Father will honor the one who serves me.” - John 12:26

In Matthew 28:18-20, God has given us the Great Commission. This Great Commission is the command given to all, to everyone who is saved, not just to pastors and full- time Christian workers, everyone irrespective of who we are and what we do. We may be students, businessmen, professionals or housewives - that does not matter! We need to share the gospel - ”That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,” (I Corinthians 15: 3,4) to those who have not heard or accepted Jesus as their Saviour. Why?

Firstly, because Jesus Christ died for us on the Cross. He took away our sins and curses on Himself, and suffered punishment which otherwise we would have suffered. We have to proclaim this good news to the perishing souls and lead them to a life that is free from bondage to sin and curse. Secondly, our Lord Jesus, before being taken to heaven, has commanded us to proclaim the gospel, as we read in Matthew 28:18-20. These were His last words and it is our duty to obey them. All His disciples who heard the Great Commission obeyed, went to different places, suffered for their faith and died as martyrs for the sake of the gospel. Many missionaries, obeying the Great Commission, gave up their possessions, left their families, and sacrificed their comforts in order to share the gospel.

Dear friends, Paul said, “Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel.” (I Corinthians 9:16) We are accountable to God if we do not share the good news with others. So, if you have not  talked about Jesus to anyone, start from today. First, pray;  then be prepared to share the good news to someone in your neighbourhood. If you do so, great will be your reward in heaven.

PRAYER: Gracious Lord, help me to obey the last words that Jesus spoke before being taken to heaven. Many times I keep quiet fearing that I may be ridiculed or rejected. Take away all fears, and help me to proclaim the good news to the perishing souls and lead them to life eternal. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen..
