Read : Romans 8: 1-4

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” - Romans 8: 1

Paul says that God’s judgment will not come upon us, now and not ever! Those who are in Christ are not condemned because Christ was condemned in our stead. There is no punishment for us because Christ bore our punishment. “This is the unspeakable privilege and comfort of all those who are in Christ Jesus,” writes Matthew Henry. In Galatians 3: 13-14, Paul explains why there is no condemnation - because Christ redeemed us from the curse of law. He paid the ransom price to set us free. He became a curse for us. It is impossible for a person to be a Christian without having Christ. And if he has Christ, he has all that is in Christ - Our sins are no more ours, but Christ’s, upon whom God has laid them all. On the other hand, all Christ’s righteousness is ours.

Dear friends, there are no different degrees of being “in Christ.”  A person is either in Christ or not in Him. (I Corinthians 15: 22)   If you are a believer then you never have to worry about condemnation from God.  When you were in Adam, you were condemned no matter how good you thought you were, but now you are in Christ, there will never be condemnation again.  This is the gospel - the good news indeed.  In a courtroom when a person is found guilty, he faces punishment.  But the wonderful thing in God’s kingdom is when we admit our sin, we are offered mercy.  We are guilty and have to face eternal death, yet the penalty for sin is cancelled, we are granted forgiveness and pardoned from the sin through the blood of Jesus.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for Your pardon, so full and free. Lord Jesus, You bled and died for me on the Calvary and there is remission for all my sins. I am now no longer condemned but I am forgiven. Thank You for Your grace that redeemed me once for all. Amen.
