“Carry one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” - Galatians 6:2
As children of one heavenly Father, we are called to carry each other’s burdens. Now, what does that mean? It simply means to help each other along. If you see your fellow believer leaning, prop him up; if you see him stumble, help him get his footing; if he falls, pick him up. It may sound really simple, but in real life, it really cannot get harder. We live in a world of selfishness - of bitter, hard-core self-centeredness. Most often, we are tempted to applaud on seeing a fellow believer in trouble. Or atleast, we are tempted to gossip about his misfortune. But the God of the Bible teaches us - that caring for one another only makes our own burdens easier to bear. For instance, if a believer is in a critical health condition, and we genuinely sympathise and pray for him, then our own problems appear much more diluted and lesser significant than before.
Dear friends, we need to be alert and sensitive to the needs of our loved ones. Jesus, while on this earth, was always conscious of the needs of the people. Acts 10: 38 says, “He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil.” He is the same even today. He watches over us every moment. He hears us and helps us in our distress. In the same way, we need to ask the Holy Spirit to help us to respond to our fellow-believers’ needs without hesitation, so that we can fly light, free from the weight of our own burdens.
PRAYER: Lord, I confess that many a time, I have turned down my fellow believers plea for help, owing to my own self-centeredness. Help me realise that in carrying other’s burdens, the weight of my own burdens reduces a great deal and that I can soar with You above the storms of my life. Amen. Honey Drops || Daily Devotion
