Friday, February 27 || PUT YOUR HOPE IN THE LORD!

There are times in our lives when we feel that God has forsaken us. We feel lonely and abandoned. But the truth is, we are not. God is with us to help us when we call upon Him. During such times, we need not be controlled by our negative emotions. We can resist them by praying and claiming God’s promises. Stormie Omaritan suggests certain ways to get free of negative emotions.


First, we should refuse to be anxious. When we are anxious, it means we are not trusting God to take care of us.

Second, we should refuse to be dissatisfied. It is easy to focus on the negatives and look for everything that is wrong in our life. But, remember what Paul said, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.” (Philippians 4:11,12) Let us tell God that we do want to make contentment as our goal in life, and let us ask His help to live so.

Third, we should refuse to be bitter. Bitterness burns away our body and soul just as acid eats skin. When a root of bitterness takes hold of our life, it consumes us and cuts off God’s blessings. So let us ask God to set us free from every bitterness, and give us a spirit of thankfulness, praise and worship.

Fourth, we should refuse to be depressed. God doesn’t want us to live with gloominess. Let us ask Him to fill our hearts with joy and chase away the spirit of heaviness.

Fifth, let us refuse to be hopeless. Hopelessness is a slow killer that will eventually affect our health. No matter how bad things appear in our life, let us always hope that the Lord will restore what we have lost.


Dear friends, may the Lord give us His grace to lead a life of victory.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me not to give way to negative feelings when I am faced with problems. Let me not become anxious, but trust You for everything. Let me be contented even amidst suffering. Let me refuse to be bitter. Fill my heart with praise and thanksgiving for Your love and mercy. Help me to put my hope in You always. Amen.
